Guns you need on your yacht!
You’re cruising along at comfortable speed on your brand new Yacht, you have your whole family with you. Everyone is enjoying the wonderful climate, the sun is shining just bright enough to create the perfect temperature, and you think it is all good. Suddenly you realize there are a couple of light skiffs approaching with menacing individuals on-board. They are watching you closely, you look back at them through your binoculars and they seem to be armed with AK-47′s.
This is not a good situation to be in. As you can imagine, getting kidnapped by a bunch of pirates is not going to be a pleasant experience. How would it sound? You telling people the story about that time you got hijacked by weak arse pirates… Bloody shameful, mate! Generally speaking when you’re out at sea you should always be thinking about protecting people on board.
Lets just pay the ransom
It is not that simple! Pirates are not known for their punctuality, handovers take a long time… often months and sometimes years. Can you imagine being away from the office for that long. Yeah! That is what I thought.
Guns you need on your yacht!
Being armed and prepared for an assault, or pirate jacking is the best move. Pirate skiffs are usually simple fiberglass vessels. So first deploy deterrents; have lead weights on board your yacht. Weights that weigh 50-60 pounds, when the pirate skiff comes close drop the lead weight on to their vessel (the weight coupled with the force of the drop will irreparably damage their boat). Next, be armed, whether you’re just going to Miami for the weekend or going on a month-long vacation to the Caribbean. Plans change swiftly, especially when you have a yacht that can virtually take you anywhere in the world. You’re likely to be tempted to chance it; by heading out in to risky waters without protection. Here are the guns you need on board your yacht!
AR-15 – Semi-automatic rifle

The AR-15 (aka ArmaLite Model 15) is a highly versatile semi automatic assault rifle. Make sure you get the 100 round magazines! You fire off a few warning shots and even the most hardened pirates will think twice before trying to hijack your well protected sea dwelling. 400 – 500 meter range, you read that right!
Glock 21 – Semi-automatic pistol

The glock 21 with super high-capacity magazines! It isn’t really for show, in close quarter combat this is a life saver, the extended mag will give you 29-40 round firing capacity. Just let her rip!
Benelli M4 Super 90 – Semi-automatic shotgun

One of the best shot guns available on the market. The Italian made Benelli M4 Super 90 will give you enough stopping power. It is very hard to survive a shot from one of these things, seriously a lot of stopping power.
RGD 5 – Fragmentation grenade

Russian made beauties. Amazingly effective fragmentation grenades, the last line of defense really, but they will do their job amazingly well! Pretty simple principle, take the pin out and throw in the direction of the enemy! Plus it is a great conversation starter.
Point Blank S.P.I.D.E.R. – Tactical body armor

Don’t leave home without it! Cutting edge body armor for the sea-going adventurer. Gives you a competitive advantage over the pirates, as they usually don’t have tactical armor. And they only shoot at people when their people get shot, so all in all this is something you need if you’re going to engage pirates in combat.
Ballistic Blanket – Tactical Armor Blankets

Exactly what you suspect it is. Bulletproof blanketing, you can put it over the windows and other tactical weak spots to create temporary cover.
Is it legal to roll with so much heat?
Technically speaking you’ll need to do research before you “roll strapped”. Research the local laws and regulations regarding the possession firearms. Contact local and state authorities, and the consulates of the nations you intend to include in your itinerary. Ask them for verifiable information on firearms laws for cruising vessels. Some jurisdictions also have restrictions on possession of bulletproof vests, fyi! If you have a good lawyer you can entrust him with this duty… (The grenades are a different issue all together, you’re on your own on that!) If you’re going to be traveling within the territorial waters of another nation (one that doesn’t respect your Second Amendment rights) then you need to be extra cautious. Nonetheless “if you wish to travel then you ought to be armed” as a wise man once said.
Now what
Clean your weapons often… and make sure they’re kept clean. Ensure that you (and all responsible adults) are trained in the handling of your powerful firearms. An accidental discharge in the cabin, with the AR-15; a bullet could easily penetrate the body and hit a critical engine component (and leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere) or take out your communication equipment. So be proficient in the handling off weapons, and keep your training up to date with regular practice. Also look in to getting a safe room installed on your yacht (for kids, and cowards) while you kill some freaking pirates!
